St. Albans City Park Pool Hiring Lifeguard

The City of St. Albans Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for Lifeguard positions for the 2026 pool season. Several positions are available.

Lifeguard Responsibilities

You may be responsible for:

  • Overseeing activities at the aquatic facility
  • Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to keep patrons safe
  • Monitoring designated areas and recognizing signs of danger
  • Maintaining order in swimming areas
  • Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning
  • Performing first aid procedures
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of all areas
  • Maintaining records and reports
  • Monitoring filtration systems, testing water samples, and making chemical adjustments to achieve water balance
  • Handling money during gate and concession operations

Lifeguard Requirements

Applicants must meet the following:

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Completion of lifeguard training
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • AED certification preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with people of various ages and backgrounds
  • Availability to work shifts
  • Physically fit, strong, agile, and dexterous
