The City of St. Albans Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for Lifeguard positions for the 2026 pool season. Several positions are available.
Lifeguard Responsibilities
You may be responsible for:
- Overseeing activities at the aquatic facility
- Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to keep patrons safe
- Monitoring designated areas and recognizing signs of danger
- Maintaining order in swimming areas
- Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning
- Performing first aid procedures
- Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of all areas
- Maintaining records and reports
- Monitoring filtration systems, testing water samples, and making chemical adjustments to achieve water balance
- Handling money during gate and concession operations
Lifeguard Requirements
Applicants must meet the following:
- 16 years of age or older
- Completion of lifeguard training
- First Aid and CPR certification
- AED certification preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact with people of various ages and backgrounds
- Availability to work shifts
- Physically fit, strong, agile, and dexterous
